Maya II

Title: Lycoris

Class: Maya II
Tool: Autodesk MAYA 2009, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro
Length: 00' 45"

This is the final project of MAYA II class, containing the skill taught during whole semester.

For example: Particle for the flying petal, Cloth for the fluttering fiber cloth. the ocean/ water effects, the collision effects, and the fast skin shader.

It's really fun when you see the final rendering of the film made by yourself...

About the environment and character design, it's related to the "Lycoris" (Spider Lily).

Because these flowers usually bloom near cemeteries around the autumnal equinox, they are described in Chinese and Japanese translations of the Lotus Sutra as ominous flowers that grow in Hell, and guide the dead people into the next reincarnation.

In order to show the meaning of Lycoris, I use several material, trying to imply the main idea --"death."
